Battle of the Kings - Vote for the Home Team!

Battle of the Kings is back and it’s bigger than ever. Not only is the competition from coast-to-coast, but Harley-Davidson has partnered with local trade schools to build some of the coolest custom bikes ever and Mancuso H-D Crossroads worked with the Cy-Fair High School Automotive Technologies Department to build their awesome ride!

For Mancuso H-D® Crossroads Crew Chief Kristen Richards, being a female in a male-dominated industry is “both a challenge and my passion to succeed,” she says. But that’s not what she believes will drive her team to success in the 2019 Battle of the Kings competition. “I have an unbelievable team,” she says. “And the key word is team. Each member brings something different to the table. We all work great together and I can’t say enough about them.”

Juan Manuel Salazar was added to the team “probably for being too meticulous,” he says with a grin. “I pay a lot of attention to detail on customers’ bikes.” Derek Rogers has been working on Harley-Davidson® motorcycles since he graduated high school. And he has since gone on to graduate from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. “I like fixing motorcycles and making my customers happy,” he says.

Chayane Rodriguez’s main focus right now is to achieve certified master technician status. “I won’t let anything stand in my way,” he says, even if it means temporarily cutting back on his favorite hobbies, which include camping under the stars with his Dyna® Wide Glide® motorcycle and going to old-school bike shows. But nothing compares, Kristen says, to getting students involved from nearby Cy-Fair High School. Highlights of the partnership included riding the bike to the school for a reveal party and pep rally.

“Making these students happy is definitely the best part,” Kristen says. “They are very excited about this project and an inspiration to all of us.”
